Is Zap wallet still under regular development and/or maintenance? I tried reaching out via their support email a few months back and did not hear back from them yet. I'd appreciate any insight or info.

Actually, I filed an issue about the BIP157 configuration not sticking after restart and they fixed it. It's perfectly usable and one of the better full self custody ones and one of the only desktop LN wallets.

I really liked Zap (when I used it). It was one of the apps that made me realize that, with a nice interface, lightning can be revolutionary.
However, I haven't seen much activity recently.

They are still maintaining it. I filed this issue and they solved it...

Actually, yes it did take some time for it to get worked out though.
Regarding bitbanana, you can use it to control your Zap desktop's LND instance, also.

Zap was forked into BitBanana

But the desktop version is not yet maintained.
Bitbanana dev is concentrating on mobbile version.
