If you believe in democracy by all means... vote. But if you don't, if you believe the state is evil and the system is rigged build community, support bitcoin, make your life better.
the point was to explicitly not vote (by making your vote invalid) instead of just not showing up
i can support bitcoin and show the state that I don't believe in democracy as it currently is implemented. i can even write down "bitcoin" on my vote
I can get behind that
reply
Ah, gotcha

i feel like a lot of people replying to my comment just saw "vote" and then started typing lol
i don't blame them, happens to me too in other topics
but i would like to see more people explaining to me how voting invalid is worse than not voting at all without going into "just use bitcoin" since i already use bitcoin
reply
I missed that partially because you can write in your name. I didn't see that as being invalid. Also, you are still registered to vote which for me personally is still showing some support to the status quo. I have no problem with what you are doing here. I wouldn't do it but that's me. Its a journey. I have voted. Then I stopped. Then I unregistered.
reply
Oh, I guess the system is just different here.
We don't have to register to vote here in Central Europe. We are automatically registered. It's linked to our residential address / government ID. We get a letter and we can use that letter to vote or go to an office to vote. Also, there is no field where you can write arbitrary names into it. Here, there are just boxes with names next to them. You vote by putting an "X" into one of these boxes.
Afaik, there is no "unregistering". But good point, I am not sure and will look into that.
reply
Ha! I assumed you were in the US. Yeah we can write in candidates here and its not supposedly invalid.
Personally I don't consider voting giving any sort of consent but it does show involvement/engagement. I get very strong opinions if I share that I don't vote around most people. Generally I don't bring it up unless asked.

Yeah same case here lol

Strong signal that democracy/voting is a religion for most people. Its the invisible kind. When you say you don't believe or don't do it its like blasphemy to them. They feel threatened or angry because you aren't going along. In the US democracy and voting is hammered into our brains in the government schools and constantly in mass media.

There's no "here" or "there". It's everywhere the same shit slavery system. Don't put yourself into their jurisdiction cage. Read and learn https://darthcoin.substack.com/p/natural-law-and-bitcoin

Because as @kepford said, they don't give a shit about your "vote". The game is already rigged, the "voting" is just a fancy procedure to make sheeple to think that they have power.
And as I said: just by going there to the voting room, you sign that you participate and that signature means you agree whatever they will come up with. You are literally giving away your only power you have over them.
It's all about a contract. And you give your consent without even knowing for what.
By voting (even if is null) you do not have anymore rights to complain.

I agree

That's how I see this contract that we call democracy:
You participate even if you vote or not. If you don't vote, they don't care (as you said yourself). You still have to follow the rules according to them.
So it's not about "signing a contract". There are things in live that you don't sign up for but are still subjected to. Yes, I know, sovereign individualism etc ... But being a sovereign individual does not change the fact that they will still enforce the same rules upon you like any other individual (who voted or not). So I see me voting invalid as showing that I don't consent since me not voting doesn't magically nullify anything. It just shows them that I don't care and consent to anything they will do to me. But I do care.
However, as @kepford mentioned in another comment: I'll check if I can unregister so I don't even get asked to vote. Should have the same desired effect if not even better.
