The mempool has gotten increasingly volatile, and I'm pretty sure almost everyone is overpaying.
Generally speaking, I think we will need much better fee estimation algorithms going forward. Kudos to mempool.space for leading the charge in this area.
In the meantime, on the wallets side, we can try to make it easier for users to fee bump, and get people used to the practice of fee bumping. The more people that use fee bumping, the more efficient the fee market becomes, the more accurate the price signal. And everyone will be able to save on fees. (Mining, otoh, will get even more competitive.)
That's why one of our priorities this year was to ship CPFP (Child-Pays-For-Parent) as an alternative to RBF (Replace-By-Fee) for fee bumping. Glad to share that Nunchuk now supports both methods: https://twitter.com/nunchuk_io/status/1672307469668986881
Have you used RBF and CPFP before? If not, why not?
If you haven't, do you want to give a try with Nunchuk? We want to make RBF/CPFP as easy to use as possible, so looking forward to feedback/comments!
P.S.: If you don't know what fee bumping is, here is a good primer: https://bitcoinops.org/en/scaling/fee-bumping/
I posted about how I discovered CPFP here a while ago. Got me out of a jam, though I definitely felt it was not n00b-friendly

Using the command line is definitely not n00b-friendly! Thanks for sharing!

Do you guys have video tutorials?
I feel like that's the first thing I want when considering to use wallets (or really any important technical software product that I use when the time calls for it, eg photoshop) - an abundance of 'how to do X' videos.

Here’s the demo!

Nice, do you post them all somewhere that we can find them?
I couldn't find them in resources.
reply
Yeah, we def need to get better at that. The plan is to create our own Youtube channel (some time this summer).
reply
Yeah we’ll get a demo video out.
BTCSessions have also done a few tutorials on Nunchuk (https://m.youtube.com/results?sp=mAEA&search_query=btc+sessions+nunchuk), and probably will have one on advanced features like RBF/CPFP/coin control soon.

I used cpfp with electrum for my ledger, which is bloody awful at fee estimation.
But to be fair, I didn't understand fees in dollar amounts at the time.
reply
Interesting. Does Electrum not display fee amounts in dollars?
As for fee estimation, we use https://mempool.space which currently is one of the better fee estimation algorithms out there. AFAIK Electrum has its own algorithm.
Here's a screenshot of how CPFP works in Nunchuk for reference. Would you use it?
