The mempool has gotten increasingly volatile, and I'm pretty sure almost everyone is overpaying.
Generally speaking, I think we will need much better fee estimation algorithms going forward. Kudos to mempool.space for leading the charge in this area.
In the meantime, on the wallets side, we can try to make it easier for users to fee bump, and get people used to the practice of fee bumping. The more people that use fee bumping, the more efficient the fee market becomes, the more accurate the price signal. And everyone will be able to save on fees. (Mining, otoh, will get even more competitive.)
That's why one of our priorities this year was to ship CPFP (Child-Pays-For-Parent) as an alternative to RBF (Replace-By-Fee) for fee bumping. Glad to share that Nunchuk now supports both methods: https://twitter.com/nunchuk_io/status/1672307469668986881
Have you used RBF and CPFP before? If not, why not?
If you haven't, do you want to give a try with Nunchuk? We want to make RBF/CPFP as easy to use as possible, so looking forward to feedback/comments!
P.S.: If you don't know what fee bumping is, here is a good primer: https://bitcoinops.org/en/scaling/fee-bumping/
