You only need a chat server but you can't host one?
This reminds me that netcat has a chat server integrated. Run this command on your machine:
ncat -l --chat
Now any host can connect to you (check your firewall) and you can chat with them by connecting to yourself.
Not sure if this meets your requirements though, this is like the most basic version of a "chat server" lol

Very cool! But a bit too primitive. No group chat, video calls, etc.
