I recently asked the flip side of this question — what you’d do if Bitcoin was worth $1M today.
But if you just woke up and saw the price cratered to zero instead, how would you respond?
The obvious answer would be to buy and accumulate as much as you can. I can't envision this happening short of nuclear armageddon or a combination double spend/ encryption break. The latter is virtually impossible.
reply
Correct answer since this causes a paradoxon
If it's 0 everyone will buy (since it's free) so it can't be 0 since people will outbid each other
reply
Oh, seems like it's called "paradox" in English. Paradoxon is German haha
reply
"hmm the germans already have a good word, but it's got that ugly 'on' bit at the end... just take it and remove that bit."
reply
May as well, just in case demand reemerges. It's not like holding it is costly.
reply
Right…nothing to lose if it’s worth $0!
reply
Probably make some coffee, take a shower.
reply
Same response to $1M…respect

Apologize to my wife

Grab the guns and ammo because there is a bigger problem. Same as if it was suddenly 1 million.

Sit down, relax and try to wake up for real.
reply
Same. I'd slap myself really hard to actually wake up.
reply
I wouldn't believe it and I would be called a conspiracy theorist. I would search for the answer, like, the truth is out there man. Bitcoin isn't really zero man, that's just what the man want's you to think, man.
reply
Can't be worth zero. There will always be people buying, no matter what.
reply
I would like to know what happened. What fundamentals have changed to cause this. Then probably go for a motorcycle ride and enjoy the country because if there are serious problems you will be spending a lot of time there... lol Oh, and keep your guns handy :-) You know, just in case...
reply
This wouldn't be possible no matter how much everyone selloff
reply
stay humble and stack sats

Keep on mining crazy must go on like bitcoin and they 'bitcoiners' can't die Fed go to hell
reply
Clap my hands 👏 check mempool.space to see if blocks are still being made. If so check stacker news and see what’s going on
reply
Buy it all, of course.
If it stays on $0 after that, committing Hari Kari wouldn't be the worst way to go.
reply
Can't go to zero since Adam Back has a long-standing buy order for 21m BTC at 1c .. so I'd be interested in buying some BTC with a 100% premium over Adam's price and shelling out 2c per Bitty.
reply
Sometimes the best move to make, is no move at all.
Also literally impossible for Bitcoin to go to zero.
reply
It cannot be zero, but it can be 0.00000001 or 1 satoshi. In this case, I will buy massively!
reply
Lol id still be poor so I guess go to work, earn a living and keep going

Check if money is still relevant at all. Are there any currencies or commodities with value? Perhaps the replicator from Star Trek was just airdropped into every home and we're living in a post scarcity world where real estate is infinite in the metaverse, or perhaps there's millions of livable planets now accessible to stake your claim and colonize for humanity. If money isn't relevant anymore then awesome! BTC has succeeded in being so scarce that it made everything else infinite by comparison.
reply
Buy more and then relax.
reply
Hold what I have and buy more. Wait patiently
reply
I would buy all I could at that price. And the price would rise. I'd continue buying until I ran out of fiat.

Go for a ride through the marshmallow forest on the back of my talking unicorn… it’s about as likely.
I don’t see it happening given how much support it has and the very real needs. However there are possible reasons; risks associated with quantum computing maybe?
reply
There’s always a non zero possibility…but I agree it’s virtually impossible right now, omitting black swans.
I’d prob just go hang out with my family
reply
Non zero possibility - agreed. I always appreciate a thought experiment and a reminder that there is more to life than Bitcoin.
reply
there are way too many steadfast believers who will go against some market tendency and buy it up pretty much no matter what happens...
reply
I’d have an absolute massive limit order posted at $0.01
reply
I'll splurge and post it at $1... no risk, no fun
