"Telegram has updated its privacy policy to show more targeted ads to users.
-
Personalized ads will be unique for each user based on the data collected about them.
-
For personalized ads, Telegram will analyze IP addresses, down to the city, will analyze users' interests based on search queries, subscriptions and contacts, and data "collected from other platforms."
-
Personalized ads will also appear in private channels.
-
A "list of identification numbers based on the phone numbers of platform users" will also be used for personalized ads.
Telegram states that it will not collect the above data if the user is a Telegram Premium subscriber.
Don't use Telegram at all, or use it only with Whonix/Tails."

My opinion: Last time I used telegram was 2 years ago, I had a number over there which got blocked without reason, asking for some password which I did not remember and just lost that acc. forever. Following that I never had a need for using telegram since these days it is just full of scammy, fishy groups of crypto and stock market scams.
Recently (more than a year back) they also released their crypto token if I remember the name correctly TON and don't know the worth it holds (it is crypto naaa).
Nostr is better, indeed.
