I've never really had issues sending/receiving onchain BTC, but it seems like 90% of the time Lightning transactions fail. I also have a few stuck as "Pending" and I guess all I can do is just wait for it to fail.
This irks me greatly and I'm thinking about abandoning Cash app altogether cuz of this. Is Strike any better?
I have never had an issue with cashapp. I saw in telegram people talking about Phoenix wallet hanging up, but I'm not having those issues either.
If you have your own node (and if you don't try blixt) and contact river support about getting a channel with them.

I've never had an issue either. Never failed once when sending to my node.
reply
Yeah I don't run my own node, I just don't really understand why it fails half the time when sending it to another Lightning wallet. I never had issues paying with Cash App's Lightning feature on Bitrefill though which is strange
reply
Try withdrawing to a lightning wallet first, then send to Bitrefill at the very least.

Failed sending money to reload my SN wallet twice (out of maybe 15 transactions). I haven't had any issues with Strike.
I used to use Cashapp a lot more when they had 5% BTC boosts on restaurants.
reply
I've been having issues with River sending to SN too and I know they are channel partners.
No such issue from Strike.

Are you doing withdrawals to Wallet of Satoshi?
I had literally a dozen listed under the "Pending transactions" heading. Some were showing pending even though they already went through (i.e., WoS already showed as received), some trxs did not truly complete (and BTC funds were stuck on Cash App, with me waiting on Cash App to eventually show that they failed). Cash App eventually cleared all these without me reporting anything ... taking more than a day or two later. I had kind of panicked thinking my Cash App account was compromised or something when I unexpectedly received a Cash App message saying I withdrew N sats, .... before realizing that was just a trx that was pending from a couple days prior, and WoS had already credited me for those sats.
So yes -- Cash App obviously is doing something wrong, and it is so bad I am almost embarrassed for them.
reply
I was actually withdrawing to my Alby/Blue Wallet address, though I do remember having issues sending sats to Exodus' lightning wallet too.
Right now I have two transactions stuck as 'Pending,' support got back that, "we are unable to guarantee specific delivery times due to variations int he Lightning Network", whatever that means.
I had no issues sending onchain BTC or sending it to boltz to be swapped and sent to Blue Wallet. I might just stick with that.
reply
How long does it take for them to fail? I have one too, but it was only for a small amount of sats, not worth chasing down CashApp for.
reply
Man, it finally failed for me this morning after, like what, 36 hours or something like that?
reply
I'm having the same issue. It's a recent thing, because CashApp lightning used to be great. Lately, it fails every lightning payment.
This evening, a friend of mine was using Strike to pay a LN invoice at a local Winery. It failed because his fiat deposit had not yet cleared. Yet, Strike was showing his Balance as more than enough.
These companies need to fix this shit. If his fiat balance hasn't cleared, then DO NOT tell him that his balance is higher than it is. Because he looks like a fool to a merchant trying to pay in Bitcoin.
Either more people need to start running LN nodes, or companies like CashApp and Strike need to step up. They are making LN look stupid right now! Either make it good, or take the service away.
reply
Absolutely agree. The UX of using Lightning (and bitcoin in general) really needs to step up. Nothing's more infuriating to have failed/stuck transactions and not really understand what the heck is going on.
reply
Yeah their lightning functionality has been a little wonky lately which stinks payements will go thru but sending to wos took about a day to go thru however sending to bitcoin company for a gift card worked instantly...
reply
Yeah the cash app ln node been struggling as of late. Payments pending for over 16 hours. High failure rate. Just a terrible experience
reply
Tried cash app and not really happy about using it. Switched to use walletano's progressive web app and most of the payments I tried are quite fast (less than 2-3 seconds). Paid to WoS, SN, alby. Payments to Phoenix Wallets seems to be a little slower.

Hi! Iā€™m a PM on the Bitcoin team as Cash App. We appreciate the flag and your patience while we completed our internal reviews ā€” we've made some improvements that will improve Lightning reliability going forward.
Do you still have any pending transactions? Are you able to retry and let me know how it goes? If you or anyone else ever experiences issues, feel free to ping me directly here or on Twitter (X?) DMs ā€“ @MichaelRihani, anytime.
Thank you for your feedback and care for bitcoin, Lightning, and our UX. šŸ™āš”šŸ¤

Hey Michael, thanks for reaching out and it's great to have someone from Cash App here! The transactions ended up failing not too long after this post and I just sent it out as regular on-chain BTC.
Glad to hear that you all are working on updating the LN functionality on Cash App, looking forward to the improvements

my notworking either

Cash app was from between two to twelve hours late in delivering on three of my LN payments from Cash App today, and a fourth attempt was stuck as Pending for a few hours before "Send Failed"

I'm confused, I thought Spiral had 7+ people working full time on LDK? Is Cash App doing some funky path finding stuff themselves that's custom or is this the default behavior for LDK nodes?
