Perhaps you guys already thought about this / have it in mind?
SN seems great in following the "public timeline". But wouldn't it be nice if I could follow certain people to see their comments / posts?
Maybe it wouldn't replace BT just yet, but it seems like a step forward.
What do others think?
I’m definitely open to it.
Do you use the follow feature on Reddit?
How do imagine it working on here?
I’ve discussed this with people privately. We plan on every user having their own web of trust eventually, which is basically an implicit follow based on how you’ve interacted with that user (or not) in the past. But, it might be nice to also have an explicit follow.

I think that eventually, as this site gets more popular, posts will come in at a rate that could cause your favorite users posts to get lost in the pile. I support following people. But posts aren't coming in that fast yet to really matter that much to me.

Never used Reddit, TBH. :)
But I am on HN. And I would often like to somehow "bookmark" somebody so I can see what else they are saying in different threads.

Maybe add a tab beside the recent and top tabs called "followed", where it filters posts from everyone you follow

"following"

I am not for following... Following is a herd action, sheeple follow. If you follow somebody your mind is biased, because you will always be influenced in some way by that "personality" you follow.
Guys, read the book of Ed Bernays . "Propaganda". is all there explained. Don't be a sheeple, be yourself.

Pre-requisite here would be to have much better profile page :)

For the contrarian view - Twitter is really geared around personalities rather than content , whereas SN is almost 100% content driven. A follower model will create an 80/20 or even more likely a 95/5 view per user outcome. In other words, popular content will be more centralized
