Allow me to explain. What if, in a decade, normies decide to fork off Bitcoin because "muh fees" and establish infinite inflation? Would you remain if the original were to go down in value? Would you go down with ship for your principle or switch to normiecoin?
I would die on this hill!
So far it seems you guys dont have clear answer... notable

LOL@suggestion a shitcoin would replace bitcoin.
reply
It will replace bitcoin because bitcoin refuses to adapt and address the issues that other blockchains have fixed. Like volatile fees that are not cost-effective or free along with unknown confirmation times which include in some instances an hour between blocks being generated. The bitcoin maxi crowd refuses to accept bitcoin's blockchain has any flaws at all, and that's why bitcoin will eventually die if lightning doesn't save it's ass.
reply
No blockchains solved it while remaining decentralized... Miners already have to deal with volatility so why couldnt they continue? There will always be bear and bull for miners as well.
So in my hypotetical scenario, you switch to normie inflationary BTC?
reply
they just implemented a softfork a few years ago, just as many years ago as Bitcoin Cashers have been crying that it would replace Bitcoin. Cry harder.
reply
Yes. Lets say. Would you switch or suffer losses?
reply
You have work to do. I lose nothing unless I lose my private keys. NGU is a feature of bitcoin, not the point of bitcoin.
reply
So go down with ship if need be :) okay
reply
"down with the ship" is an extremely naive conclusion.
reply
So you would switch to inflationary "bitcoin"?
reply
In a fork no one needs to switch because your private keys work in both.
reply
So you hold Bcash, BSV and rest? Thats shitcoinery brother. Not good.
Ok, avoiding answer is answer too....
We’ve seen what happened with Bcash and its subsequent hard forks. I’ll stick with the tried and true original.
reply
Even if it happened?
reply
Bitcoin is never going anywhere close to zero.
reply
Year is 2023, Bitcoin is at 1M usd, USD is in shitter, fees are as expected. Normies screech and convince 70% of users its needed. Bitcoin forks and inflationary BTC becomes dominant. wyd?
reply
reply
ofc but can you answer?
reply
Infinite inflation and higher value? Call me Mr. Ver. I am of course kidding. I'd be interested to read the story of how it would be possible.
reply
Normies buy it cos its cheaper to transact.
