Working on my first blog post about port forwarding and WireGuard.
I realized I want to be 100% sure everything works and I am not talking any BS.
So I'll do everything from scratch myself again with a clean setup and empty firewall rules. Therefore, I need to install a separate OS for that and rent a separate VPS. And then I thought, if I put all that effort into it, I might as well record it and add a video to the finished blog post.
Almost done with the video ... for the first part, lol
But while verifying my knowledge, I learned a lot of additional knowledge, lol
Everything sent over the wire is UDP. The protocols (like ICMP) are handled by the virtual network interface. So you only need to allow UDP over the physical network interface. Interesting. Layered protocols in action!
I will re install the PWA on my Graphene OS phone and my old android. I also access the site on a Linux Ubuntu. The PWA crashed during the mess and I haven't reinstalled it. I use Brave on the Ubuntu and as of last night I was getting the repeat notifications and what seemed to be a rollback of my feed of a few hours. Everything seems okay right now.
No, but I have noticed when I open the PWA, it loads in “light mode” briefly. I assume that’s the default and it renders that way until my preferences are loaded (dark mode), but it didn’t used to flash like that
The food in Tijuana is grossly underrated, weather flawless, beaches endless, traffic bad. Here's a fun stat: 9 of the top 10 cities with the highest murder rate per 100k people in the world this year are in the US and Mexico.
I spent a lot of time in Tijuana during the early 1980's when I lived in Los Angeles for 3 years. It was a fun town back then. I wish I remembered it better. Too much alcohol for clear memories. Maybe that's for the best!
