Paul been stirring up a lot of controversy as of late, and that shit has been putting me on edge

For context and for those who do not know

Paul has been cheering on the idea of prediction markets as if they're gonna solve all the problems just like how Silicon Valley thinks AI is gonna solve all the problems. He's written extensively about this through like 6 different whitepapers going in depth on how great prediction markets are as an idea.

Paul loves telling everyone how he doesn't got time to convince them, however he just spends all his time trying to convince people about his ideas.

Can someone explain to me why he is so keen on pushing his drivechain agenda? Last I checked this guy was out to make a prediction market truthcoin type shit, but is that on pause for some reason? Or is the drivechain shit actually a segue into his truthcoin agenda?
He seems harmless to me, though certainly highly opinionated and confident about it. what exactly do you want out of this post?
Also, regarding prediction markets, if I recall correctly betting sites are better at predicting certain things, like elections, than other methodologies

What exactly do you want out of replying to me?

I'm shouting into the void like screaming into a pillow

Paul's whole idea with truthcoin/hivemind was prediction markets until he distracted himself with the idea of drivechains to solve a problem that didn't actually exist
reply
I want you to explain why you care what Paul does. Also, I believe prediction markets can run on drivechains.

reply
Because your post is essentially a veiled ad hominem.
reply
Know nothing about him, but it’s funny because my first instinct when reading this post was “betting sites / sportsbooks are really a thing of beauty” in that sense
reply
Just came across this randomly, pretty interesting, the 2nd link shows how closely the odds track the actual outcome

I buy into a lot of the arguments regarding predictions markets, but haven't taken the time to better understand the proposed BIPs. I generally oppose BIPs, and wish they would find a way to implement drivechains without a fork, but it seems that "hash escrow" (whatever that means) is pivotal to his proposal and that requires a soft fork.

FOR CONTEXT

Here is his website where he does nothing but try to convince others about his ideas: https://bitcoinhivemind.com/
And here is his old website: https://www.truthcoin.info/
This guy literally be talkin shit to people on twitter saying "I don't got time to convince you" yet does nothing but try to convince people. Honestly it's putting me on edge.
I don't see why he couldn't just make a prediction market framework with DLCs on Lightning...? Why fucking go through the hassle of trying to convince the entire Bitcoin ecosystem of his drivechain agenda? I guess this is what 30 years in academia gets you huh
reply
There is a difference between trying to convince the right people and wasting time on the wrong people.
People who are not familiar with and do not want to educate themselves on certain concepts, are not worth engaging with at this point (but may be in the future).
Satoshi did the same thing. There was a point in the early days where he gave up on trying to convince people.
Cypherpunks write code, they don't argue (too much).
reply
Funny who else shows up to comment when this is about "someone else".
reply
Whatever, sock.
reply
paul is a bitcoin og and I like his point of view. it is compelling.
reply
Markets mean choice.
Maximalism is authoritarianism.
reply
I wrote an article about it .
reply
It seems like a campaign to me. And there is socks too.
At no time do they ever explain why it can't be on their own fresh new shitcoin chain, or why it can't be a hard fork.
That's the red flag, because if it wasn't material what chain it was, then it doesn't have to be bitcoin, and therefore, GFY troll lol.
reply
Why would anyone build anything in any chain other than Bitcoin? Who the hell is the troll here?
reply
What bitcoiner wants to fuck up bitcoin?
Oh yeah, not a bitcoiner!
reply
Do you believe Paul wants to fuck up Bitcoin? And how do drivechains do that? No one has to put their Bitcoin into a drivechain.
reply
But you insist that we must let you put a drivechain into our Bitcoin.
reply
Who are you talking to? I have never promoted adoption of these BIPs. I guess you can ignore my questions...
reply
I bet every "sock " is a real and you just side step their replies and change the goal posts as usual.
reply
Drivechains rule lol the bips have been around for 6 years. please continue telling people abt prediction markets itll make the network upgrade more popular. Lightning wouldnt work at all for many scaling purposes especially something where security and privacy are valued like a prediction market
reply
Was Paul a big blocker? I'm sketched out but can't recall why.
reply
He did once work for Bitcoin Jesus
reply
paul said there was a third way. If i recall correctly, his position was and is, keep it small, but have big blocks on a sidechain for those who see usefulness in it.
For him the whole debate was as silly as argueing over whether everyone should eat vanilla or chocalate icecream.
