I would say, though, that it's just an issue of people kind of missing the point. Digitizing a system IS better than the original system simply because it is more universal (see: https://publicism.info/science/infinity/7.html ). For most people this abstraction, "universality," just looks like "everyone can do it, it can't be regulated, and that's scary because they don't have enough knowledge to protect themselves from, say, losing all their money to a scam." That's true, and a good criticism--but the solution isn't forcibly preventing or coercing another person--the solution is to distribute knowledge better ("All evils are caused by insufficient knowledge" https://www.bretthall.org/blog/are-all-evils-are-caused-by-insufficient-knowledge).
