Defense attorneys had similarly argued that Bankman-Fried was asserting his first amendment right and did not violate any terms of his bail conditions by speaking with journalists.
Since his arrest in December, Bankman-Fried had been out on a $250 million bail package which requires him to remain at his parents’ Palo Alto, California house.
I wonder if his bail is automatically forfeited.

No. As long as he showed up, the bail is returned. In this case, since it's federal, they probably only required a lien on assets, which gets removed once he goes into custody. No financial pain for his parents.
