Something like fiatjaf's lntxbot have with sats4ads on Telegram. Merchant want to promote a business, making a discount offer, new product, or simply want to shill a shop accepting BTC.
In sats4ads being directed to each telegram user subscribed to receive ads, is going to be paid for each character and sent to all or selected subscribers (based on their "price subscription".
We need to encourage merchants that accept BTC to promote their businesses to bitcoiners. Maybe some of them will make special offers only for SN users.
In this way we can keep also a clean news feed not filled with commercial announcements.
I'm sure k00b will have ideas about how SN should evolve over time. I think there is probably room for a few 'subs' like this, and this is a good idea for what one could be, but too many could risk diluting the quality of the main feed.

I would like to have a dedicated section, where I can go and just browse for daily offers to buy stuff with sats. Like a nice marketplace. I would like to have the main feed clean from commercials, just pure Bitcoin related news / discussions. Everybody wins:
  • merchants promoting their products services to those willing to pay in sats
  • users getting nice offers and places to spend their sats
  • SN evolve and having separated sections

I really like this idea!!

Yeah this sounds like a positive way that SN could go.

There will be more subs over time dedicated to different topics that advertisers might want to target, one possible solution could be to simply add another sub filter.
Right now you get to toggle between 'recent' and 'top' posts, what if you could also hit a button to view 'boosted posts' for a given sub?
That way a dedicated sub wouldn't be required for ads, and the advertisers would get to be closer to the user-generated content without interfering with the main feed. As a result, ad rates will be higher than if there was a separate ad sub, and those ad rates would be sent right back to users as an airdrop.

Would be cool if users could use it as a marketplace to sell P2P
reply
a P2P marketplace needs an escrow. An escrow service needs an arbitrator to settle disputes. Is hard. But hey, let's see how @supertestnet is finishing that Lightning Escrow app.

I wonder if the SN web of trust could be leveraged to provide the trust for the transactions too? Then it may be possible to do P2P transactions without escrow, but just over private chat of choice...

do an r/place like pixel advertising page, some kid already did it decades ago and even made a million dollars from it, he made a page with a million pixels and each pixel was priced $1, you can price each pixel at 10 sats, I'm sure Industry bitcoin brands will want to spend some sats to pick some pixels, they need not draw pixel art, you can just convert their logo jpeg or message to pixel art in their purchased area

Hmm, there could be a section or sub dedicated to projects like this to try different game theories in action :) and people could build new projects (like r/place) there
reply
Yeah, Stacker News should just build the base, where every action costs a minimum of 1 sat, and let people build over it.

and a memes sub, called Memezon, where each click posts it on your connected Twitter or Facebook or whatever, and you pay 1 sat minimum for buying the meme or an additional boost if you want.
reply
Oh yes, I think that would be a good category to seperate.
