Sounds like it was a good afternoon. The African Bitcoin angle is really interesting and especially with the problems in Zimbabwe.

Thank you! A documentary last weekend highlighted the exodus of care workers (and soon teachers) to Europe robbing the country of its brightest and best. At least they are sending money back but local currency exchange to dollars is done on the backstreets.
Bitcoin would offer hope if you could get it converted into dollars safely.

Absolutely. I am kind of obsessed with Zimbabwe. In fact, I bought one of those gigantic notes years ago on eBay for like a dollar. That book was a great read. For a more general overview of the Zimbabwe nightmare, you can also check out "When A Crocodile Eats The Sun"

This one is a personal memoir about a family business that got destroyed:

I hope you heard the WBD podcast ‘Escaping Hyperinflation in a Rolls Royce with Freddie New’ about his experience of escaping Zimbabwe and it’s informing his current work at Bitcoin Policy UK

I missed that! Thanks. I'm listening now.
