How many address downstream of the seed are you going to check for transactions before moving on to the next seed.

I think your math is way off.
A 24 word phrase, for one, is about 256 bits - so it’s actually 2^256 (not 24!) to find all possibilities. The number is about as large as the estimated number of atoms in the universe, much much larger than you suggest, around 10^77 IIRK. And no computer could possibly brute force this.
If a 24 word phrase took ~40 days to crack, as you suggested, then we’d all be screwed and I wouldn’t think bitcoin had any future at all as that’s not secure.

It's not clear enough in the example, but the calculations are for the case you have the seed words scrabled not for unkown seed words.

So if you know the words but don’t know the order - got it. Likely an exceedingly rare use case - unsure why that’s an example.
