"[...] establishes the legal framework which governs crypto-currencies and establishes Bitcoin as the official currency in the Central African Republic."
"The Central African Republic is not only the first country in Africa to adopt Bitcoin as its benchmark currency, but also the first country in the world to unanimously adopt the bill that governs cryptocurrency."
What is odd is that the words used in this press release do not correlate even closely to what the media (e.g., Bloomberg) are reporting. Maybe there's something lost in translation (from French), or maybe what the press release describes is what is hoped will be the outcome from the President (or his advisors), and what happens next is the regulatory body that the bill proposed determines the specifics.

I feel like the world is going to learn about Africa in the next couple months :)
Same as two years ago almost no one knew where El Salvador is...

One interesting dynamic will be that El Salvador & CAR will be in an unofficial currency union the same way Germany & France are in the same currency union.
Wondering if this will cause bureaucracy shenanigans around the world.

Shenanigans are gonna happen either way... but i hope this will get the bureaucrats agitated in some ways that will force them to show their cards, re: carrying debt & the unavoidable realities of the inflation they've enabled.
