There is absolutely no need to run a node unless you do many transactions so you want to make querying more effective or you dont want others (chain explorers) to see which adresses or transactions you are querying.
Last reason might be if you want to donate your disk space and nw bandwith to community to keep one extra copy of history.
Wrong. Running a node is about self defense. In many ways it's the online equivalent to owning a gun. No 3rd party can fudge your UXTOs or selectively show you what they want you to see when your own node is directly interfacing with the blockchain.
Sure, most wallet providers don't want to screw you over, but this is a lazy argument that sounds too utopian to me. Some will, and given time, most will.
