I read this way too early in my day. I understand it a lot better now. I switched jobs very recently to make sure I could do a job I would love. I see too many people stuck in jobs they don't like, but I can't stomach that for very long.
That all written, I have certain goals in mind, and my current state of employment serves as much as a "career" as a step in achieving my goals, but the steps aren't the goal, though the pleasure of mastering them keeps things interesting.

In my few corporate jobs I've found people are reasonable within the paradigms of their responsibilities, however when that responsibility is about money on the line, often reason goes right out the window.

I can do my work with enthusiasm and pleasure without deluding myself as to the nature of my relationship with this work. Someone signs my paycheck and has expectations of my performance. That is a grind.
