You should be able to punish the stupid posts. That means the stackers can make you pay for it. Instead you pay all the things upfront for a post (like boosts) - there should be the a punish button.
Punish and Earn must be in a equilibrium - and this is the tricky part.
So if you feel confident about your post, you should have the possibility to earn a lot more - and this should come with a risk. The risk to lose some sats.
The tricky part is to find the right algo.
  • How much can I punish someone?
  • How much get I punished?
  • can i lose it all?
  • How long get I punished?
  • Where is the punishment going?
  • And WHY on earth should this be implemented?
I like the Idea to find a system, where spam, advertisement or lazy nonsense is punishable by the users.
The aime is to improve the system - not sure this will happen - but sometimes I miss the punish button. --> #236785

kind of - the rule of the game should be equal. Example:
  • For Advertisers they can put up a amount they are willing to pay und the stacker can them "punish" till they running out of sats.
  • if you like to get on top - there should be a price/risk. You can use it instead of the boost.
  • And the conspiracy theorist get a special place in my heart ...

Why would you punish advertisers who pay 10k+ sats, which get distributed back to users, esp the best posts? If someone posts low-rez, spammy, or Chat-GPT generated content, they won't get zapped, and won't get engagement. They'll just keep paying sats to post.

I don't think this is a good idea generally but it would be a cool idea as part of a contest or something similar. Like a poker tournament, everyone buys in for 1k sats and competes against others in some fashion to win or lose sats. You are out when you lose all your sats.
Could be something here but it is murky right now.

I don't think you'd ever be able to enforce it.
Can't squeeze blood from a stone and I doubt the LN wallets allow for a negative balance. I keep a small holding in my SN wallet, everything else is moved to other wallets.
If you tried to punish or penalise my posts, I'd just leave enough to post in my SN wallet and then move the rest. If my SN wallet balance is 0. You kinda can't take any from me.
I get where you're coming from, would love a way to incentivise not posting shit. If there's a risk of losing sats, I think there would be a lot of posts/posters who would think twice about posting. But ultimately, bad posts just don't get zapped.
