From personal observation, proper pathfinding is still a huge problem for Lightning. I know there's on-going development (e.g Rapid Gossip Sync, Trampoline, etc), but to my knowledge, resources are scattered.
Anyone know of good places (e.g websites, chat rooms, etc) for following research, development, and tooling in the routing community?
Depends of:
  • are you running a public node?
  • are you running a private node?
  • what peers you have?
  • what LN implementation you use?
I wrote several guides about LN routing and use, please see my bio for a full list of guides.

@darthcoin @Wumbo the question is more directed at protocol developments, such as trampoline, route blinding, and RGS, than tips/tricks for routers. Seems like these are all isolated topics

OK, understood. Yes, indeed, these topics are really good to discuss. I know we have many LN devs here, but they are not answering too much, as it should be. We need them to participate more on SN talks and leave the useless shitposting on twitter.

Do you mind sharing what destinations you are trying to get to?
It might give some of the node operators around here some thoughts of where to deploy some future channels to.
