Good to experiment and see how that changes the site, so I'm all for that.
First impression (not sure if it's already changing behavior or not), but I see lots of posts but mostly nothing that I see zap worthy, and I have less incentive to comb through it all to zap certain things. Since losing my hat streak many months ago and turning off hat notifications, I already didn't bother as much either.
Just food for thought. More posts and comments may be good. Just way harder for me to shift through "recent" and I was a "recent" maxi for the most part throughout the day.
Thanks for sharing!
I totally agree. I slog through recent most days too. The suck is what motivated me to experiment with rewarding it.
It's pretty clear now that upzapping needs to be incentivized. Many more folks began participating in zapping.
We're hoping to figure out if post/comment quality increases in a similar fashion or has some unknown effect.

Yeah I'm curious as well. Let those posting more, but low quality, filter out when they don't get rewards or zaps and then the ones that do good keep it up. Would love that to happen, just needs enough time for user behavior to catch up. Would be curious of your thoughts on that later in the future after all of this.

The lag time of behavior changing is something we're also keeping an eye on. It definitely isn't immediate.
I'll be sure to summarize the results of all these experiments at some point.
