You should always use a "fake" identity online. A fictitious one.
Even if you have a limited presence of your real identity online, it should not be linked to what you are doing online. A simple info webpage is enough, if you have a personal one. And that should be all.
People should make a very important difference between what is private and what is public. Many of today are mixing things and post private things on public networks.
THIS IS THE BIGGEST MISTAKE, not that google is storing what you post. Google is storing it because YOU give it with your consent. Stop giving it away!
People are bitching about google and many other platforms that are using their data. But never ask themselves: WHY do you give that data in the first place?
