Why does Satoshi Nakamoto remain anonymous? Does it have anything to do with privacy and security concerns? What would have happened to him/her/them if their identity was publicly known?
At the very least their life is less complicated being unknown. How would they benefit from being known?
I think their life would be at risk, if they were known.

I have a feature request @k00b Would it be possible to have a progress bar type feature to achieve the 100 sats per day for the cowboy hat? For example, if you hover over the hat, a progress bar appear that shows how many sats you zapped out of 100 for the day.
That would make it less fun in my view.
It's supposed to be an "easter egg", and in theory it should reward people that zap/tip, but not being a thing in itself.
If it's an "achievement" then it's more of the same crap that every other website is doing
Maybe even better would be to add a random number so that you never know when you're getting the hat.
I just view my wallet history, filter on spent only, and add it up for the day if I’m concerned I’m close
You can also view your last 24 hours of spending in /top/stackers/day?by=spent ... but you have to find yourself.
How about we let them lose the hat only when their phone is in a rushing wind.😆

the posts get increasingly expensive to post throughout the day I think? (I think this would be better served as a weekly timer)
first post 1 sat, second post 100 sat, third post 1000 sat or something like this? Similar to how replies get increasingly expensive in a thread.
Maybe one day the cost of a post here might work similarly to how space on the blockchain works... more demand for the limited daily space available, the more prohibitive the cost becomes.
I guess I'm thinking of the bitcoin fee market + difficulty adjustment style system determining the costs of making a post. This way I can't just have alt account obfuscating the increasing cost to post as all users would be paying the same adjusted fee to post.

That's a really neat variation on fee escalation. Every ten minutes it drops globally.
Another variation is the fee dropping only when something high quality is posted.
I think we're still missing high quality stories pretty regularly but once we aren't this kind of thing becomes worthwhile.
Yeah I was thinking like determining a target amount of posts, and having the fees adjust to hit the target. Gonna use some simple numbers for sake of ease.
Imagine 100 posts under 'bitcoin' sub being the goal per day. Base fee to post today is 100sat but we get 250 posts instead (no post limit per day). The adjustment basically being base fee x (actual posts/desired posts). 100sat x 2.5 = 250sat to post.

One of the biggest things I miss about living in the Midwest was swimming in the lakes. Lake Michigan on a summer day was a blast, way better than going to an actual ocean imo.
