Am I missing something? If NOSTR is about being uncensorable and respecting free speech, why will Primal go this direction?

Nostr itself is not censurable.
But any layer on top of it can act completely differently.
That's the beauty of decentralization. That you can use a different service that uses nostr.
Same with Bitcoin. You can use it through a custodial or non-custodial wallet. You get to choose from different services but the underlying platform in the same.

100%, it is just unreal to me that Primal is going that direction, unless I am missing something...

They must be a registered company somewhere, so I assume they'll always have "reasons" to comply with existing laws (tracking).
As Nullama mentioned, we only need a different company to pop up and eat their market share.
