How do you guys feel about Casa? Would you use them? What do you think about them? If not, what multisig would you use?
Wait, are you using a single Coldcard MK3 for your whole stack, anon?!
I've been using them for 6 months and it has been a really easy experience, but I know there is some contention about them with diversity hire drama and potential shitcoining. But hey, it was easy to set up, actually non-custodial, and I don't have the time to roll my own multisig (and potentially screw it up).
I'd be happy to answer any questions about my experience with Casa and I'm looking forward to other Casa users' opinion. Because while I do feel like they are the most white-glove velvet-rope self custody solution on the market, that doesn't make it the best solution for everyone.
My main concern with services like this is privacy. AFAIK they know how much Bitcoin we have so there’s ever a “give us your gold” moment, you’ll have a harder time denying you have any.
I don’t know how realistic a concern this is, but it’s the main trade off I see.

Good point. A few things about this:
Casa client data is encrypted by your account manager's personal Yubikey, which means they make a real legitimate effort to limit how many clients any given employee has access to. The govt would require your account manager's cooperation to get your info. Although there are possibly other ways to dox you too, from KYCd corn and chailalysis, or bad privacy practices from people you transact with.
Ultimately, unless you are a kyc-free bisq ninja or whirlpool everything, you don't have deniability anyways.
IMHO it isn't a huge concern unless you already have perfect on-chain privacy. And not many people do.
Also, you can use Casa anonymously, but you lose 2 benefits:
  • inheritance is not possible
  • if you die, your family cannot obtain the key that Casa holds (so hopefully they won't need it!)
I began using it anonymously, but then decided to reveal my identity because I want my family to be taken care of if something happens to me. That peace of mind is worth more to me than worrying about getting 6102'd.

I don't want to be that guy, but if a fellow Stacker decides to use Casa they may as well use my referral code and get a discount, right? So here it is: https://keys.casa?ref=0d65d732

Im using a cold card but would like to try multi Sig with the seed signer & possibly an old ledger.
I'll look more into casa but mainly for inheritance if I can't figure out a good way to do myself

I think their prices are needlessly expensive, but they have no competition for what they provide. so it goes…

There’s Unchained as competition with a much cheaper price point.

I share my Casa with my family. You can create subaccounts and easily separate UTXOs into buckets. My family then helps pay for the subscription, which eases the burden.
