No, bitcoin works. I used alts like eth and a few others. It really wasn't functional or reliable.
The only thing I wish is that I had a better understanding of what could be built on Bitcoin layers.

I had a similar experience but took a lot longer to learn unfortunately.
I think everyone needs to navigate all the obstacles. Hopefully now there is a stronger BTC only presence.
Still true that everyone gets into bitcoin at the time they deserve though
