I don't know why exactly but I am extremely bullish on Liquid.

Blockstream and Adam Back

I use liquid!!

reply

I use Liquid too. I use it to lose the KYC trace, as an alternative to coinjoins.

reply

Your anon set is dog shit and way worse off than using coinjoins. Your swap in and outs are heavily linked through timing and amount analysis and the peg outs only work by using a centralized custodian.

reply

I'm aware of timing and amount analysis, it can easily be broken. Peg X amount in, peg Y amount out at later time. The peg outs take seconds, I don't mind entrusting a small amount of corn to a custodian for that long.

reply

Blockstream is legally liable to reveal you activity on their network.

reply

They can't unblind the amounts without my private keys.

reply

How do you know ?

reply

It's open source and it's not even owned by Blockstream.

reply
Liquid is operated by a globally distributed federation of members, including exchanges, financial institutions, and other Bitcoin-focused companies. Members collectively manage the network and guide its development. For more information see Liquid Network Governance.

Every member in that list is AML KYC liable.

Blockstream started and continues to run Liquid,

https://blog.blockstream.com/en-liquid-new-members-and-integrations/

It was only open-sourced recently, and there is no guarantee what is revealed is what is running in the background or what logs and associations are being kept.

Privacy is not one of their selling points.

I use liquid

Like so many other projects orthogonal to bitcoin, it's a tool in your toolbox that you should know how to use in case you have a need at some point. Like everything in life, it comes with a set of trade-offs - understand what those are and then you can make informed choices :-)

reply

I don't believe you. Likes like misinformation to me

McCormack's style of journalism is similar to Piers Morgan in which he pretends to be really stupid to illicit entertaining responses from who he is interviewing. Whatever the issue, he chooses to take a moderate stance that will appeal to the largest audience of Twitter NPC's as possible.

:)

I notice this too. Lame.

It's good to have Liquid. It's running for a good while, which is great to ensure it is tested well. It will come in handy at one point.

I'm excited for the possibility to run Lightning on Liquid, which could interoperate with Lightning on Bitcoin. It would be less secure but much cheaper Liquid Lightning network for everyday use perhaps. I don't know what future needs will be...

reply

How do you use liquid?

reply

You don't. Nobody does

reply

The most common way is to use side swap app.

Blockchain has resources on how to procure and use Liquid.

Search “Blockstream Liquid “ or what is liquid blockstream

Check out Aqua wallet and liquid community telegram groups

reply

Yeah love the USDT support!

reply

You gave me a good laugh! :D

Lullz🤣

reply

Quite soft on this subject... what happened, not too many cigarettes?

reply

Just reporting the fake news

I've never used Liquid... I think because:

  • I didn't meet the need (I've been using Lightning and on-chain)
  • I don't really trust companies (but I'm OK with users)
