I like Jack Daniels better, but Jim Beam is real Kentucky bourbon. It's cheaper than Jack Daniels, and Jack isn't exactly high end either. Johnnie Walker has a little more Scotch snootiness.
I will have to check if the local liquor store sells Jim Beam.
Jack Daniel's has a reasonable price range in South Africa hence its popularity.

Same in the U.S. I'm not an expert, but my friends who drink high end bourbon consider Jim Beam good for the price. I have tried their expensive stuff, but I can't tell the difference. I'm happy with my Jack.

Don’t get me started on whisky’s…. I do love a drop of Jack. Some of the high-end JDs are very nice.

That's what I hear. I find it funny that Jack has moved into the high end market. What are your favorite bourbons?

Well, I got gifted a bottle of very drinkable Makers Mark and I do enjoy Gentleman Jack or JD Single barrel on special occasions. Wild Turkey Rare (?) was a nice find recently as well.
I do enjoy a drop of scotch as well.
How about you?

As I was saying earlier, I can't distinguish really good bourbon from mediocre. About 6 months ago I enjoyed an evening with an old friend and a bottle of Bulleit. I guess I did notice it went down a lot smoother than standard Jack.

Guess it doesn’t matter…Good company and ok bourbon beats ok company and good bourbon any day.
