How should SN handle topics? Any ideas? Side menu or something else entirely?

I know it's not that easy to find, but there are some threads that cover this.
It's been suggested that there be a kind of sub-sn, like there is with sub-reddit.
So, /s/topic or /sn/topic or the like.
It's early days for SN and there's much to do on the back end development.
