I need to spend a little less time reading about human action and elliptic curves

reply

A classic but I had to read this multiple times for speed reading class in middle school

Clockwork Orange is a fun easy read. Watchmen is a good graphic novel, as is Saga.

reply

Gross. Lol. It's a slow burn to be honest.

There are too many good ones. It depends on what you're looking for. Do you want to be entertained or do you want fiction that'll emotionally upgrade and inspire you?

reply

I think entertainment is the goal. I used to watch a lot of movies and there is a great feeling after watching an engaging narrative. Definitely does not have to be flowers and sunshine though!

The Rise and Fall of D.O.D.O. is a very entertaining, interesting, and funny read from Neal Stephenson. REAMDE is a similar feel also from him. I love many of his earlier more profound books, and hate some others, but these are just fun reading.

Do you have genre preferences?

Dune
The Count of Monte Cristo

Paris 1919 - historical leading up to the roaring 20's like now :)

Is it by Margaret MacMillan?

reply

I love "Ficciones" (Fictions) by Jorge Luis Borges. It really blows your mind...

reply

Tough question. Blood Meridian, but Invisible Man is a close second. If you enjoy Gatsbyesque books, you might like Rules of Civility. Since you said you like sci-fi and technology, the Foundation series is excellent.

reply

The Remembrance of Earth’s Past trilogy. Best sci-fi fiction books I’ve read in a while!

Watership Down, by Richard Adams
The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, by Douglas Adams
Tenth of December, by George Saunders
Glue, by Irvine Welsh
East of Eden, by John Steinbeck
