I consider this article just cheap FUD.
After segwit was released, many bitcoiners found out that with the split of chains into BCH, they get doubled their coins. So what many did (including me)? I exchanged immediately the fresh BCH shitcoins into BTC, literally doubling the stash.
But doing that (redeeming the new coins) involved also moving the old and new coin into a new wallet, because the old keys could get compromised.
So, with that, many old bitcoiners simply created a new set of keys and moved all the coins (old and new) to a new wallet.
After few years, with taproot coming, I did another move: all my old wallets I moved them to a new taproot address. I kept only few in a buffer cache wallet, but slowly I will move everything to new wallets with taproot addresses.

Yeah, I am with you, I am using Segwit mostly and taproot for some just because I was late to the game, lol never got a BCH airdrop.

It was fun 😂 In early August 2017 was the split chain. End of August, I had already doubled my BTC stash, dumping all the free BCH.
