Also related to the density of new experiences. At 5, almost everything is new, the world is full of wonder. At 40, for most people, nothing is new. Their lives are on rails.
It's hard to live like you're 5, in this way, but I bet you know somebody who does. It's like they get more time than the rest of us. I'm not sure if it's terrible or nice to know that you can do it if you want it bad enough.
I guess its true what they say then: we tend to lose that twinkle in the eyes the older we get. Getting older really sux.
