Nice sarnie.
I wonder if this will kickstart the debate of triangle vs square cut
I am more int the debate of cucumbers or not cucumbers in a sandwich, It was a surprise when I travel to Germany and "every" sandwich has cucumbers :S... not pickles... raw cucumbers. In my country there is a no way hahaha.

Cucumber is the best vegetable. It's so fresh, so crispy, so... perfect. Me and my partner almost eat 1 cucumber daily, it's insane really.

absolutly! you can even dip in in humus. or cucumber salat with vinegar, also bangin
reply
Yes! Just yes!
Chinese crushed cucumber salad is also fire!

i have to check this out, sounds delicioussss
reply
It is!
The secret ingredient is the dark Chinese vinegar which imho is to die for, especially when blended with the sesame seed oil.
The chinese black vinegar is a bit special though, my partner is not that into it so I simply pour extra on my serving😅
Recipe I go with is dead simple and idiot proof:
  • smash the whole cucumber with something (I use a rolling pin, but its a high risk the cucumber breaks which may or may not be your thing)
  • cut into fun pieces
  • put in a bowl
  • add chinese black vinegar, sesame seed oil, garlic, light soy, chili flakes
There's more advanced versions but this is fresch umami enough.

Good to know :), carrot, tomato is a common theme here when you buy a sandwich.
reply
carrot on a sandwich should be worth a debate
reply
Thinly sliced or finely shredded? I'd go for the slice.
reply
well i think there is nothing wrong with cucumbers on the sandwich :D The germans and the polish love pickeled onions, they have something called Spreewald cucumber

always triangle cut in my opinion! But that's a uk thing
reply
Team triangle here too
reply
