Hi everyone,
I have a friend who wants to hold bitcoins longterm. However, he is just startig to get the main ideas how the system works and ect. He asked me which cold wallet should he use since he is not an IT guy at all, he even has difficulties with basic computer skills. I am not sure what to recommend to him. I wouldn't suggest ledger to him, because I don't really like the way which ledger operates (seed recovery, leaking information about customers, etc). Moreover, coldcard would be too advanced for him. What do you recommend ? I believe he needs something that is relatively easy to use. Perhaps a blockstream Jade ? I have not used it yet however I heard a lot of positive feedbacks from others. Please let me know what would you advise.
You can start with writing them down on paper first and the upgrade your "storage" after you get the hang of it.
From what I know a device like SeedSigner should be easier to handle even for a newbie, you can built it yourself and it's stateless, so all data will be forgotten once powered off.
@DarthCoin has wrote many guides but the one that fits here should be this one, at the section of HODL wallets (I linked to that section directly).
I'm also a newbie, surely other will be able to give you other ideas.
