I am a believer in constructive criticism as a means of self-reflection and improvement. So, when an article about Bitcoin needing apps popped up on my timeline I initially dismissed it because it was a Bankless article (they seem to focus on ETH and DeFi). However, in following my personal philosophy I thought I should give it a read. It reads like a sourpuss hit-piece to me. The attack on security seems to stem from a justification for proof of stake over proof of work. I think the author is biased. And I am becoming more biased over time. So, I'm sharing to see what the SN community thinks.
"Bitcoin Needs Apps"
  1. Never share with a referral code or any other tracking code.
  2. When an article ends with "takeaway" or "giveaway" that means is sponsered by a shitcoin campaign. Stay away!
  3. Bitcoin already have so many apps:

Shitcoiners see a world where everything is rebuilt onchain and they become the new wealthy elite. Ultimately they are just fiat maxis but want to control the "crypto" fiat.
BItcoiners see a world where Bitcoin fixes the incentives of everything. Existing and new things that are built will either integrate or align with bitcoin or become irrelevant.
Personally, I have never considered all the dApps, defi, nfts, and any other applications shitcoiners purport to be huge TAM use cases as anything but a distraction of the primary goal which is to fix the money. Once we reach mass adoption we can work on secondary features. I liken it to building a skyscraper. Shitcoiners want to build a skyscraper on quicksand and start by building the elevator to go to the 50th floor because reaching the top is most important to them, Bitcoiners want to build in a foundation in bedrock from the bottom up, floor by floor because building a sound structure that stands for generations is most important to them.

Because I was educated in traditional banking and finance - at least that's my excuse - it has taken me a long while to get out of the financial engineering-of-shit mindset. Plus, I have also always been a gambler, so I still "hedge" with futures and options (LNMarkets) and other risk-taking. However, the more I learn bitcoin, the more I am drawn away from all that crap at an exponentially increasing rate. I'm drawn to the base. The money.
Fix the MONEY and all this shit goes away. Eventually.

LN Markets is awesome. For fun I like to throw a few thousand sats on there and have at it.
