Great response to our Bowl game challenge. We even had some unfamiliar names making picks so hopefully that indicates the population of SN stackers and Stacker Sports window shoppers is growing.
It turns out the NBA still plays games on normal courts that don't fall under the in-season tournament brand. Sadly, I watched the Raptors participate in one of these novel events last night. It did not go well for the Raptors. When can we begin the way to early NBA trade deadline talk?
Even more depressing than the Raptors performance last night was the big trade in MLB. Juan Soto, one of the best hitters in baseball is now a New York Yankee. That will be a scary Yankees lineup when everyone is healthy, which won't be often. Maybe this move swings the baseball offseason into high gear. I am still holding out hope that in mere days I will be able to boast about the Blue Jays signing Ohtani, or rage post about the Jays not signing Ohtani.
Should be a good night for sports. We have in-season tournament semifinals (Go Pelicans), a healthy slate of NHL games (we are all Senators fans tonight- maybe except @kr) and TNF. I won't say it's a good Thursday night football matchup but it's football on a Thursday night.
Sats for all,
GR
I finally got a chance to catch up on the Raps/Heat game. That was a much better game than I expected from your comments. No Bam seems to have meant there was no giant to be slain by your giant slayers.
reply
My disappointment with the Raps is more broad based than last night. Missing way too many shots right under the basket, can't shoot 3s and when they can they can't shoot them down the stretch. They went 6/23 from the field in the 4th Q. They have some great talent but can't seem to get it all together.
reply
We'll see who @BTC_Bellzer picks, but right now you're in a death match with @elnosh and @POTUS. Meanwhile, I have no dog in that fight. I'm just hoping Milwaukee wins.
reply
Lebron isn't prepared for what Zion has in store for him.
reply
Looks like the other way around. Le Coach/GM Bron is poised to win this thing and the whole Pelicans team isn't prepared for what he has in store for them. 71-110 end of 3rd, Pelicans need a miracle to come back from this one...
Damn, if I had only picked Pels last round, I would have picked Pacers this round and Lakers for the finals. But there are no "what ifs" in real life and I have accepted my defeat. Giving a premature congrats to @POTUS for 12 minutes game time away from winning the pool.
reply
Haha yeah well that unwarranted confidence worked for me when I picked the Raps to beat the Bucks earlier in the year and they did, so with my back against the wall and needing the Pelicans to win, I figured I would give it another shot.
reply
Hopefully, Dame Time starts soon.
reply
Fortunately I was at the movies with my daughter and didn't have to witness that shameful display by the Bucks.
reply
I need New Orleans to win now. That eliminates everyone except for you, but you and I will both be out of picks and will have to forfeit the championship round. That will send it to the tie-breakers.
If the Lakers win, @POTUS will win by default, because no one else has Indiana left.
reply
I guess my theory that I would not need or want to use the Pacers in the playoff round was not a good one. Haha. Let's go tiebreaker.
reply
I felt a lot better about my strategy when I didn't care about the Pelicans winning. They stink tonight. How did they make it this far?
reply
Damn down by 30. I was watching the end of the football game.
5-2 leafs tonight 🫡
reply
Wasn't quite 5-2 but at least they won in regulation.
reply
How will that work when the Leafs can only win a game when it goes to 3/3 OT or Shoot out?
