I am a big fan of Ubuntu. One easy way to try it is to use the Windows Subsystem for Linux, 

. It has come a long way and is fairly useful, especially on Windows 11.  I can also recommend the 

 subsystem on Chromebooks, which uses Debian. Both solutions require at least a mid-range system: minimum I5 processor, 8Gb Ram and an SSD.
