Has anyone seen the show? It's soooo good! It has also inspired me to use the Queen's Gambit opening every time I play white now

Yep. Very entertaining.

It created such a buzz in the world about chess. So many of my high school students (especially the boys) are highly interested in chess now, and I think that's a direct result of the show. Intellectual competitiveness...there's nothing else quite like it. Basic rules, but a never ending rabbit hole of getting more skilled. Kind of like Bitcoin!

My daughter also began playing.

Oh, she was in college when it aired.

Yes. Good show. I am not much of a player but I am teaching my daughter (5) how to play chess. When she opened with the queen’s pawn once, I said “oh the queens gambit” so now every time she moves a piece she tells me it’s that piece’s gambit. “This is the pawn gambit daddy” haha.
She is getting pretty good. She has a hard time keeping track of where the knight can move but otherwise she knows all the pieces and their movements.

omg that is so cute. You're giving her quite the head start intellectually by teaching her chess. Good for you! Please keep me updated on her progress! Thanks for posting here :)

One of the best shows released during pandemic...

I watched it during a snowstorm that shut down my city for four days. It's I think the only television drama I have watched. good but mostly for the way it looks, no? the fashion was more compelling than the chess playing. it was the WAY she played chess. c'mon y'all

Haha I feel you on that
