Which Bible do you guys read from, and why?
NASB or the original Greek. I like getting as close to the source as possible.

Highly recommend the BEMA podcast. It gives translation a whole other level. I started from Episode 1.

I'll try it out. Have you heard of Bible in a Day podcast? I'm listening to that right now.
reply
I've heard of it. Not listened yet. In a day? How does that work?
reply
oops I meant Bible in a Year** Podcast that breaks down the Bible into 365 segments. Each segment is about 15 minutes of reading and 5 minutes of analysis.
reply
That I have listened to. I used to be on a program like that. It's a good discipline.

The older the better I think. I am have not extensive exposure to any of them. But the way I see it, the bible was beautiful and the more it has been messed with, the worse the ideas seem to get. More manipulation of what the original message was.

None of them. I trust myself. We may sit in silence in nature and learn everything we need.

The bible I trust the most is the NET, but you have to read as much as you can and contrast information, the truth is probably scattered.
reply
I like the ESV for most reading however I have been enjoying the NET translation lately - the footnotes are wild.

Do not trust. Verify.
reply
true. Which Bible do you read now that you have verified it? And how did you go about verifying it? Which verification method did you trust?
reply
I like the NET because of it's translation notes. They give you a glimpse into what goes into the decision to render words one way or another.
