It was an exciting game. I'm not a fan of the gimmicky 3on3 OT or the shootout, but a win is a win. I discovered something tonight you probably already know. We had seats on the blue line where the Islanders were defending the goal for two periods. My buddy and I were smack in the middle of a sea of Maple Leaf jerseys. I couldn't believe it. I strike up a conversation with the guy next to me asking if he came down on a bus for the game. He tells me he lives near me. He told me that NY is filled with Maple Leaf fans. I was surprised. I guess the Leafs are like the Yankees of hockey without the championships?
I was not aware of the Leafs Nation in NY. I know Leafs fans travel well. They go to a lot of road games but I didn't expect them to be like the Yankees of hockey.
