Things getting worse is everywhere to various degrees.
This is something I wish more people moving out of California would understand. They might get some relief for a decade by leaving California, but the rest of America has long been following California's lead.

I love SF - even with the problems. It's a magical city and a blessing to live here.

@k00b is it possible to change the orientation of a photo when uploading?
reply
This is a bug because we scrub metadata (which has orientation info) for privacy reasons.
@ekzyis is working on it?
In the meantime, someone mentioned that if you rotate the image 360 degrees, it preserves orientation.

I would even say I am really close because using the library shouldn't be so hard

Yeah that works since old programs flip the literal raw bytes (inefficient), while newer programs just store it as metadata (efficient).
So if you flip the image with an older program which does not support reading or writing EXIF data and then upload, it should be fine.
Just FYI, in case it doesn't work. Classic forward compatibility issue.
I hope I used the word "forward compatibility" right because that's may be the first time I used it myself, lol

No worries, I like to learn about stuff like this. All these specs and RFCs underlying our digital world, one should read all of them one day, lol :)
Sorry that it's still not fixed but I think I will be able to fix it in the next 6 hours
commits to it by saying it
