NFL Week 17 is up at freebitcoin. As it stands, there aren't any wildly good odds, but of course that will change.
I just barely covered last week. The Raider win was huge, but the 49ers were quite the let down. It was a similar story with soccer, Salernitana hanging in there with AC Milan made up for a bunch of other matches not going my way.
Any other big wins to celebrate? Big losses to mourn?
the lions cleaned up for me last week. they covered the spread, and won the division, both of which i had bets on. plus i got paid out by public for the nfc north bet. all in all not too shabby

You also won the nfl weekly pick 'em

good call, i almost forgot
reply
Very nice.
Most of that is on the mainstream platforms (fanduel, etc) right?
reply
yeah at this point i'm still on draft kings. i was going to check out freebitcoin, but it was right at peak fees and they don't use lightning. i'll circle back once fees are down and i figure out their odds system
reply
What happens first?
  1. Fees come down
  2. freebitcoin adopts LN
  3. @ekzyis starts using real sats at https://delphi.market/#/

lol, I appreciate that you haven't forgotten about delphi
but I am wondering ... would you use it with real sats in the state it is now?
I feel like it's lacking a ton of UI/UX features like PWA with (push) notifications, a working stats page per market, a better overview which markets are running and settled, when markets are going to expire, ...
And I haven't even started with hardening the setup. I am still a n00b when it comes to running LN nodes.
reply
I trust you enough that I would use it if you were comfortable enough to launch real sats. Whether anyone else would is a fair question.
reply
Well, I would at least compensate you if you lose sats (and make sure I have good accounting going on to know who lost how many sats) and/or put strict limits on the amount of trading volume. But I also appreciate your trust in me :)
I am also looking forward to real sats on delphi. I had a call with @Alby and they mentioned that someone should fork manifold.markets since it's FOSS and replace their in-game currency Mana with real sats.
But I think I have a different vision for delphi. I don't intend to have huge volumes or a profitable business model one day [0]. I am more interested in making prediction market very accessible. A more "p2p microbets prediction market platform", you could say. A platform that runs itself and can be run by anyone so I need to do zero maintenance. So basically, not only decentralizing the oracle, but the whole market itself.
But the idea with forking manifold.markets is still a good one!
[0] but maybe that's what they all say in the beginning.

Don't feel like you have to rush it on our account: we all have nearly zero time-preference, after all.
500sat bet won me 13k sats on the Cardinals. Wow. And propelled the 49ers to the number 1 seed. I am now up around 9500 sats on the season. Would have been a horrible week for me if not for that Cardinals win.
reply
The Cardinals put me in the black for the season. I think I ultimately had almost 30:1 odds for them, but I didn't have as much on them as you, so it was only about 9k for me.
In general, it was a very good week for RBOA. Several other games hit pretty big.
reply
Yeah that was a big upset that I thought could go either way prior to the game. Cardinals have been playing much better. Murray is playing for his job, Conner is a good RB and the Eagles D is a mess this year. Gannon definitely wanted to beat his old team. This was the Cardinals superbowl.

49ers ruined Christmas.
reply
At least that wasn't the morning game. There are a lot of Chiefs fans around me and that was a ruined Christmas. My dad and I took immense delight seeing people taking down their Chiefs decorations.
reply
Didn't exactly ruin Christmas but it is fun to say. Out of their 3 remaining games it was the least important to win being a non conference game and I don't necessarily think it's a bad thing they got their butts kicked after 6 games in a row dominating other teams. No more MVP talk, no more generationally good offense talk, just focus on cleaning it up, playing their game and grinding out 2 more wins so they can get the bye and rest some of these guys that are banged up.
I went a different route with my bets this week. I bet small on all the underdogs and a bit bigger on the ravens and 49ers. Ravens odds are pretty good right now. I do think Miami can make that game interesting though.

Did you see the stat that Lamar was 19-1 (now 20-1) against the NFC?
The idea is that he's almost impossible to prepare for, if you don't see him regularly.
reply
Yes, he tends to only lose divisional games. Although that has nothing to do with why the 49ers lost. Lamar had a good game, he wasn't unbeatable. The D played fairly well considering the offense and special teams kept giving the Ravens the ball at midfield or better.
reply
I had the Ravens winning (good) separately in a low scoring game (bad) with a Gus Edwards TD (good)
reply
Did you just like the odds on the Ravens or did you expect them to win?

@ekzyis I want a front page where I can turn off sports ball.

Your dream has come true. You can now mute the sports territory. Hopefully this makes your SN experience better.
reply
Is this goodbye? 🥺
reply
I am sure you will be able to mute territories eventually and miss out on all the fun.
reply
There’s just too much fun and I like depraving myself of life’s joys. Sports ball makes me too happy and it must go. #gosports

Understandable.
