it's amazing that this game has such simple rules... and complexity emerges

I've never played but am fascinated by the game due to the amazingly high number of board variations. Has AI been able to beat the best humans yet? I know that in 1997, an IBM computer beat a chess world champion for the first time. I vaguely remember hearing that it would take awhile for a computer to beat the world's best Go player.

I did some android app - there is plenty - that teaches you rules, moves, basic tactics. Once you grasp it, you can easily start playing.

Online-go.com is compatible with other clients on OGS servers and pairs you with players on your level, you can play quick games or correspondence, you don't really have to commit that much time.

Then some Youtube, chatting with friends...
