Of course there are a multitude of them out there, but wondering if stackers have any unique takes on whats’s going on in our minds to push adoption forward?
@Rob1Ham from AnchorWatch recently cited “greed” as an emotion, rather than altruism.
Do you agree with this take? What other emotions could you point to as a fundamental driver?
Personally I can’t disagree with greed, but I would add that perhaps it’s more of a stubborn interest in protecting one’s self, that’s easily viewed as greed form the outside perspective (though, it certainly can trend towards full on greed if you lose sight of the big picture.)
For me it's hope. I'd like to stop being broke too but I hate being surrounded by abundant, needless suffering.
Yeah, that's what really got me into bitcoin. I'm not sure it is all that common of an emotion. It comes from deeper understanding of both how screwed up the world is as well as how bitcoin works and how it could make a dent in many problems. I've spent so much of my life digging into trying to understand and mostly the more I learn the more dark the world looks. Before bitcoin my faith is really the only thing that has kept me from despair for the future. Bitcoin is very hopeful.
So true. I felt like I had very limited ability to affect change on big problems before bitcoin.

But yes it's true, Bitcoin is one of the most tangible solutions to immediate problems we face that i've ever come across. Extremely refreshing, considering every other "solution" pushed in the mainstream is misleading.
For many, desperation.
Millennials and younger realizing that home ownership may be out of their reach, if they are lucky enough to get any variant of social security it will scarcely cover their canned tuna budget, and there's no such thing as a stable 9-5 career anymore.
Sprinkle a little debt on top of that and the options are either getting big on TikTok ("it's just a prank bro!") or YOLO'ing into this Bitcoin thing.
Hopefully many will stick it out for the long run, and get pulled into the rabbit hole.
sadly true. And many among the older generations dont have a grasp at how different the economic climate is for millenials/gen z today thanks to fiat
I really think these are the top ones for most people. I think these also drive people to do many other things besides adopt bitcoin. Most people just follow the crowd though and the crowds are very ignorant and for the most part follow the influencers of society unquestioningly.
I should have mentioned hope. That's what drives me along with fear and greed. I just think its not typical at least in my experience.
Awareness about uncertainty is a big one. There are far too many distracitons available to not pay any attention. And many just assume that the world moves linearly and things will stay the same indefinitely into the future
Hate towards people who want to take one’s privacy and control his life.
Rebellion. I bought bitcoin to opt-out of the system. I don't care if it loses monetary value, I gained in freedom.
And it is beautiful how seamless technology has made it to enact such revolution :)
Greed plus excitement plays it all for me
It’s peace of mind for me. Can confirm there’s a lot of that when saving in a money that can’t be debased.
Getting involved with Bitcoin, it became all the more clear how important self custody is. Your exposure to witnessing fraud and rugpulls goes way up by paying attention here
