Why betting on the fate of these poor people. What I would say is that there will be a negociation. Russia will keep the regions with mainly russian population, Ukraine won't join any western bloc and there will be an instable ukrainian government, led by another puppet. I do not see a re-integration of Russia into the european energy trade any time soon.
