My "lesson learned the hard way" is that when choosing note taking / todo application it's a good idea to limit yourself to do it at most once per quarter. This is because there is infinite number of note taking / todo applications. For example in the class of outliners / "Personal Knowledge Management", some good ones are:
Obsidian (I'm really enjoying this one recently - syncing across devices with Syncthing)

This is a new feature they just added, actually. A couple months ago they were giving away 1000 sats to any new user that joined, which is why i even joined lol
