Here's an update on how things are going. (summary - great, I will definitely continue.)
This was my first post on the topic: Kinda-carnivore diet is leading to WAY more energy
I didn't begin the carnivore way of life to deal with auto-immune issues, anxiety or depression, or weight issues (seems like a lot of people do, though). I began just to see if I could reverse some of the very, very gradual declines in physical and mental well-being that I've been noticing over the past decades. Basically, aging.
I'm now more carnivore leaning than before. I guess you could say I'm about 95% carnivore, since returning from a trip. Most of the time I'm meat/seafood/egg, but also eating some dairy (hard cheese, milk, yogurt, heavy whipping cream, sour cream). I also frequently have a few half cup servings of berries.
Anyway, here's some of my findings:
- Eye redness - that used to be an issue for me. It always cleared up after 2 or 3 days of fasting, but obviously that's not a permanent solution. Well, I just noticed a few days ago that it's mostly gone. It's the same as it was, after fasting. There's still one inflamed/red spot - if that goes away (been there for years, probably decades) then I will be very impressed.
- I'm more muscular now. I'm not lifting weights or anything, just my body fat has decreased, I feel stronger.
- My sports performance is improved. Multiple people have commented on it, and asked if I have a coach now. I tell them I'm eating a carnivore diet. People are very interested.
- Balance issues - I previously had an issue, which many people get over the age of 40 or 50, which is little micro balance issues, like you tip over a little bit, and have to recover. I can't remember having that in weeks, now.
- Efficiency in movement - this is hard to describe, but I feel much "tighter" in my movements. More driven, I'm faster and snappier.
- Bowel movements - I have a bowel movement every 4 days or so. Little tiny things, too. Previously, I mostly had 1 a day.
- I'm less sensitive to cold. I still feel cold, but it doesn't bother me as much.
- Hunger - when I'm hungry - the feeling is there, but it's not so emotional, no "hangry". I'm just hungry, not desperate.
- My weight doesn't fluctuate anywhere NEAR as much as it did, on my previous diet (very "healthy", lots of fruit and veg, zero processed junk food, some meat but not much, lots of whole grains). I fluctuate max about .2 pounds a day, maybe.
- I have much less gas. That used to be an issue, not any more.
- I'm standing straighter. I don't know why, I just am.
- Emotionally, I'm more decisive, I feel braver. Like - I've started a few projects with other people that previously I would have been a little too tired, or a little too worried about what other people thought, to start them.
- Mood - I didn't really have mood issues before, but I can tell I'm more even tempered. I don't get upset as easily.
This has been a gradual process for me. As I listen and read more about the carnivore diet (and I experience more), I become more convinced and get more hard-core.
I convinced someone else to do carnivore, they did an instant 100% carnivore, and had some issues (keto flu, etc.). Hopefully it still works out for them.
