I could have tried this ignoring him tactic but my wife would not be amused. It would be way past his bedtime n he can’t wake up the day after. She is the one who takes him to school before 8.30am haha
curious, did you ever think of homeschooling?
reply
Actually nope. I’m a teacher who works in the public school system. Of course it has its flaws but I think the socialisation aspect is something that is hard to replicate in a homeschooling setting. I like hanging out with people too haha

I started to think about how doable it is because a. I do have time to teach the kid myself, and in a more practical getting hand dirty way! b.social wise, maybe a small workshop style with other kids is the way to go.
Personally, I don't want the kid to go through what I've gone through and end up not only wasting time and being fed so much wrong information.
how about you? @Undisciplined

All options are on the table as far as we're concerned. I'm a big advocate of homeschooling, but I'm more interested in private Montessori schools personally.

I prefer teaching the basic things myself, then sending the kids to hangout with different masters to learn real skills or crafts so that they can sell things or build their own fun ( learn how the real world works ) to earn in Bitcoin from an early age, instead of wasting time learning things from paper, much fun 😂😂😂
but then ofc it's up to the kids:)

I like that approach too. The thing is, if your kid goes to government school in America, you pretty much have to teach the basics yourself anyway. Our government school is pretty much no-additional-cost daycare and it provides an opportunity to hang out with their friends during the day, but you can't expect them to learn much while there.

This sounds tough. How do you intend to supplement your child’s learning if those private Montessori schools turn out to be too pricey?
reply
Get her addicted to Khan Academy and Duolingo, mainly. I'll also keep the house stocked with interesting books for her to read, like my parents did when I was young.
Well im from Singapore and our education system is top-notch even if we focus too much on academic grades haha

You definitely don't want to violate the "happy wife happy life" theory of marriage.
