I think that the threaded path of "only by eating more than needed, one's able to build muscle" isn't necessarily the right one; I've walked that path- and it led to results, but also to health-issues.
I think that the above leads to: A. Eating too much (of the bad stuff) in order to get the "needed" amount of Kcal and macro's in, and B. Conditioning the body for the worse, training the body to crave food every couple hours.
That's why I want to try another approach; Training my cardiovascular health and building some lean muscle, without some fancy diets or calorie- and nutrient counters attached.
Anyone with tips or experience on how to do this the best?

When I think of lean-muscle I think of low body fat percentage and strong yet compact muscle. For that I'd probably do the same that I would to lose weight in general, count calories so I'm eating at a caloric deficit while keeping macros more toward protein and fat. At the same time, I'd hit the gym a few times a week to do strength training. I don't think it's a very comfortable way to live but if your goal is to be lean and strong then it makes sense to me to eat and train that way.

Well, my "base weight" is right around 60 Kg at 180 Cm.
I don't have to count calories, nor do I have to have a critical view on what I eat in order to stay thin; it comes at the price not putting on weight, though. 🥲
At least not as easy as others do.
The only thing i'd really have to do, is to shift my macro's more towards protein and carbs, while keeping saturated fats on the low.
